Please try again later. Verified Purchase. The 40 Year Old Virgin is and always will be one of my favorite comedies. Steve Carell as the title suggests is 40 years old and a virgin. For instance they take him to get his hair removed from his chest. All the pain that entails is captured on film. Not only that but I think Carell really had his chest waxed for the scene. Gerry Bednob for example is an old Indian guy that works with Carell and every time he shows up he has a great series of curse laden lines.

A young Jonah Hill makes one of his first on-screen appearances and tries to buy a pair of boots with fish in the heels. Carell and director Judd Apatow just did a fantastic job writing the script. Great movie thank you. I was bored and i gave it a shot. The film's sympathetic portrayal of the film's underdog allows it to appeal to adult audiences despite its raucous and authentic tone. Andy, a year-old bachelor who works at a big-box store and spends his free time playing video games and sorting his collection of action figures, is a likable character in the film. Because he has never had sex despite being of legal age, his friends are pressuring him to end the status quo. He meets Trish, and the two begin dating awkwardly as he practices his social skills with women. The storyline for this hilarious picture is barely more than an alibi for giving creative control to a lively ensemble of sketch comedians. Unlike many films that are spliced together, this one actually makes sense. As you watch, you'll feel a connection to the film's characters because of how charming and real they are. It's not a terrific movie, but it's not terrible either. The comedy alone is worth seeing for the mood boost it provides. The humor is nasty in places, but it's still funny.

Thumbs up for this movie. Four out of five stars. I want you to do me cause you're the yo-yo guy! Andy Steve Carell works at an electronic store as a stock boy. Andy also plays video games and collects comics and rare toys. Andy's weekend of fun is buying the ingredients for an egg salad sandwich Andy is 40 years old. Andy is also a virgin. Within the store that Andy works at are a bunch of guys who do what most guys do. Well, Andy doesn't really fit in with the rest of the group, but one day the rest of the guys ask Andy to fill in at the poker game because one of the regulars won't be there. During the game the guys start talking about sex and women, and Andy makes the mistake of saying boobs feel like a bag of sand. Thanks to this mistake the guys figure out he's still a virgin. And instead of making his life a living hell, they decide to help him out in the ways they know how. This movie has made me laugh so many times and in so many spots. Judd Apatow writer, director, and producer has the exact same kind of comedy as me. And to me that comedy is just straight stupid and non-caring and perverse and quick witted and spontaneous Thankfully Apatow has made it in the movie business because the networks sure didn't let him succeed on T. Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared. Also I'm happy that Apatow has kept a lot of his actors from his T.
